Q: Have
guestrooms been adversely affected?
A: Most guestrooms
are totally unaffected. A number of ground floor rooms have
water damage to soft furnishing. These rooms will remain
unoccupied until new furnishings have been sourced.
Q: Are hotel
facilities affected?
A: All facilities are
now back to normal including restaurants, pool bars, swimming
pools, spa, fitness center, shops, clinic, hairdresser’s,
conference rooms and reception.
Q: Have swimming
pool functionality been affected?
A: Swimming pools
were initially affected by sea water. They have since been
emptied, cleaned and treated and are now functioning normally.
Q: Is there any
debris or adverse affect to the beach?
A: All debris has
been cleared from the beach. The beach probably looks as good
as it ever done because there are no venders’ chairs or
umbrellas. The beach looks totally natural and very beautiful.
Q: Availability
of drinking water?
A: The hotel is
sourcing drinking water from its normal supplier, there has
been no disruption and non is anticipated.
Q: Sourcing of
supplies i.e. food, beverage, etc?
A: The majority of
Phuket was unaffected, therefore availability of supplies is
normal.
Q: Disturbance
to any part of the sewage disposal and treatment system?
A: These were
unaffected by water and are operating normally.
Q: Are power
supplies normal?
A: Our power supplies
are operating normally. We also have internal power generator
for cases of emergency.
Q: Were any
areas of the hotel flooded?
A: No area of the
hotel was actually flooded. Although reception, some ground
floor rooms, gardens, kitchens, restaurants and swimming pools
were affected by water. All areas have now been cleaned and
restored to normal with the exception of selected ground floor
rooms where some contents require replacement. These rooms
will remain unoccupied for a short period.
Q: Is there
stagnant water laying that increases the risk of mosquitoes?
A: Most laying waters
reseeded and all residual pools have been removed. There is no
increased risk of mosquitoes within the vicinity of the hotel.
Q: Has water
caused any safety issue with regards to electricity, fire and
alarm systems?
A: All electricity,
fire and alarm systems have been checked and we are satisfied,
they are functioning normally.
Q: Are medical
facilities overloaded?
A: We are extremely
fortunate in Phuket to have excellent medical facilities,
whilst hospitals were under pressure immediately post the
Tsunamis, the demands on them are now more normal. The
Katathani also has a clinic within the hotel supported by the
Bangkok Phuket Hospital.
Q: Has the
infrastructure of Phuket been badly affected?
A: All roads are now
unaffected and the airport is operating as normal.
Q: To what
degree has entertainment and tours been affected?
A: Key entertainment
venues such as Phuket Fantasea and Simon Cabaret are open as
usual. Bars and clubs are also open with the exception of some
closed to the beach at Patong. Tours within Phuket and to
Phang Nga are operating. Tours to Phi Phi Island and Similan
are cancelled. Offshore diving is restricted.
