The Katathani Does it Once Again
The 27th of September, 2008 marked another milestone for the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort as Chief Operations Officer, Mr. Suchart Vikittipong, cordially accepted an Award for Outstanding Performance at the 7th biennial Thailand Tourism Awards in Bangkok. The Katathani obtained this award in recognition for outstanding quality and reliability of tourism services, proudly presented by Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Minister of Tourism and Sports.
This occasion marks the second consecutive Award for Outstanding Performance (for more than 80 rooms, Southern Region) that the Katathani has received from the Tourism Authority of Thailand, following the previous acceptance by owner and CEO, Mr.Sombat Atiset, in 2006. These prestigious awards recognize achievements in competitiveness, quality management and excellence in standards of service, contributions to the conservation of natural and cultural resources, and support for sustainable tourism development.
The awards are statuettes of the Kinnari, a half-lady, half-bird mythological figure featured in ancient Thai literature, representing perennial beauty and exaltation. The Kinnari holds a lotus in one hand, while a pigeon is perched on the other. The lotus symbolizes purity at the highest esteem, and the pigeon represents peace, brotherhood, and harmony in nature.

Katathani Phuket Beach Resort won the prestigious Thailand Tourism Award 2006 – Outstanding Performance (Resort with more than 80 rooms, Southern Region)
The award was presented by H.E. Sakthip Krailerk, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport on September 27, 2006 to Mr.Sombat Atiset, CEO of Katathani.
The Thailand Tourism Award is Thailand's 'Hallmark of Excellence' – a symbol of assurance in the outstanding quality and reliability of tourism products and services offered by a particular organization or operator.
The distinguished awards recognize the finest achievements and outstanding contributions to Thai tourism and represent the country's highest honors conferred for innovation and creativity in the field of sustainable tourism, conservation and environmental protection efforts.
The Thailand Tourism Awards were first introduced by the Tourism Authority of Thailand in 1996 with the recognition and endorsement of the World Tourism Organization.
